Land Surveyor Job Requirements

A land surveyor is mainly responsible for studying and measuring a particular site of construction. They need to perform a variety of vital tasks such as carrying out surveys, gathering of technical data related to the site, preparing 2-D and 3-D charts and maps of an area etc.

They also monitor land movement and carry out environmental impact assessments on sites. Surveyors work on a diverse variety of projects from land subdivision and mining exploration, to road, tunnel or bridge building projects. They work closely with engineers and architects providing them with the necessary details. Following are the education and job requirements needed for this post.

Education Requirements

  • A degree or a diploma accredited by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) or a full-time post-graduation course in surveying.
  • Applicants without a professional degree but with a minimum experience of two years in the field of engineering or construction can also apply.
  • Knowledge in Contouring Layouts and field survey equipments is a must.
  • Should have strong STEM skills (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics).
  • Experience in Hydro power projects and knowledge of Basic Navigation is a plus.
  • A good knowledge of software such as Auto-CAD.

Job Requirements

  • Applicants should be able to work for long hours. Projects may also involve overnight stays away from home.

  • The candidates should have the ability to work to a high degree of accuracy.

  • Must possess legal knowledge related to lands
